The Angels asked me to write on the Gospels every Sunday, so with love and gratitude, I surely do. Here is today’s reading from the Gospel of John 6:51-58
Jesus said to the crowds:
I am the living bread that comes down from Heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give is my flesh for life of the world.
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
“How can this man give us flesh to eat?”
Jesus said to them,
unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood
you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life,
and I will raise him up on the last day.
For my flesh is true food,
and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father
so also the one who feeds on me
will have life because of me.
This is the bread that comes down from Heaven.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,
whoever eats this bread will live forever.

First we have to understand here that Jesus was speaking in a supernatural way. The Jews at that time believed that physical blood was the life force of all things, that ultimately blood sustained the flesh. Here, Jesus spoke of his own flesh and blood as the eternal life for all. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice and sacrificed his own life so that we could have “life” eternal. He offered himself as “Living Bread”, sacrificing His own blood and flesh for all, and was speaking of the first Eucharist, which is a Grace from the Father, in sharing eternal life with the Son the and the Father. He offered an intimate relationship for us with himself, with the Father, and also for us to have with each other.
There is a huge power of receiving Jesus in the Eucharist and in sharing in the eternal Light of Christ with everyone around us and also those we meet. When we receive him , we receive Him in Body, Blood and Spirit-and are saying that we too, have an intimate relationship with Jesus and God the Father. This type of Eucharist is to be shared with everyone.
Receive Jesus in the Eucharist, ask him to be in your heart every day. Ask Jesus to assist you in your life purpose, your daily practice, and in recognizing him in ourselves and in each other. For The Light of Christ is in all peoples. Jesus say to lift up all concerns to him, to the Father in full faith and never doubt. Trust in Jesus as you would the Heavenly Father, for they are truly one- who loves you eternally. In Jesus Name
