Awhile back, the angels asked me to dedicate Sundays to the Gospels readings for the day. With Love and gratitude here is the Gospel of Luke 9:28 B-36; with a loving angel guided message behind it.
Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.

Jesus took 3 apostles: Peter, James and John- to the mountain to pray- which was commonly Scripture’s place for a Divine encounter.
As Jesus prays, his face is suddenly changed and his clothing began to radiate dazzling- with Heavenly light. Jesus is already in full communion with God the Father, when God decides to manifest his full identity.
This scripture states that the 3 apostles were overcome by sleep, but became fully awake (through the Holy Spirit) to witness the full glory of the Lord, and the Lord speaking to Moses and Elijah. Moses-representing the law, and Elijah- the prophets; about Jesus’ exodus. The word evokes Israel’s past deliverance from Egyptian enslavement and anticipates the freedom Jesus will win, but only through his suffering , death and resurrection and Ascension. A Heavenly Voice urges the frightened disciples to listen to Jesus- the “chosen son” for in him, the law and the prophets converge are fulfilled. The 3 disciples have glimpsed “his glory”, that is , they have beheld as part of Jesus’ own identity the splendor and wonder that only belong to God.
The transcendent moment serves to strengthen the three key disciples by declaring the Divine sonship of the one they will follow to Jerusalem.
It was fitting that Jesus should choose Peter , James and John,, strengthening them as Peter, whom Jesus has named his rock, on whom his church would be built. James, who was to be strengthened, as he was the first of the apostles to be martyred, and John, to be strengthened, who was at the foot of the cross, and received the mother of our Lord as his own mother. [see references below]
The angels said that to us- the glory of the Lord is revealed through this passage. The Glory of God is revealed through Jesus Christ – through his suffering on the cross, we have been redeemed. For through Christ , we are risen with him- and in full Glory, he will come again.
