“For My Yoke Is Easy and My Burden Light”

Awhile back, the angels asked me to dedicate Sundays to the Gospels. With Love and gratitude, here is the Gospel of Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

A yoke is a heavy wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the neck of two large animals to be able to carry the heavy plow the yoke is attached to. The bible mentions in Galatians not to allow ourselves to be dependent upon the “yoke of slavery”; which is dependence upon obedience to Mosaic Law. Rather instead, upon upon the faith in Christ’s death and Resurrection to receive salvation and eternal life, because it was for freedom that Christ set us free. Jesus is asking us to trust Him. For he has given to us the fulfillment of of law with “Love God with all of your heart mind and soul and love others as you would yourself.” Jesus understands when we come to Him with anything. Trust Jesus as you would the Heavenly Father who sent Him. And He will give you rest. Jesus loves when we ask for him and so does the Heavenly Father. Invite Jesus into your heart allow God and Jesus in every area of your life. Rest assured, Divine Peace ensues when we do.
