The Son of Man Did not Come to be Served, but to Serve and to Give His Life Ransom For Many

Awhile back , the angels had guided me to post on the Gospels on Sundays. With Love and gratitude here is today’s reading from the Gospel of Mark 10:35-45- with a loving angel guided message behind it.

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus and said to him,
“Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.”
He replied, “What do you wish me to do for you?”
They answered him, “Grant that in your glory
we may sit one at your right and the other at your left.”
Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking.
Can you drink the cup that I drink
or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?”
They said to him, “We can.”
Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink, you will drink,
and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized;
but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give
but is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
When the ten heard this, they became indignant at James and John.
Jesus summoned them and said to them,
“You know that those who are recognized as rulers over the Gentiles
lord it over them,
and their great ones make their authority over them felt.
But it shall not be so among you.
Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant;
whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.
For the Son of Man did not come to be served
but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Jesus asks the apostles if they can drink the cup- that is, accept the destiny planned by God- that Jesus will drink, and in their arrogance they reply positively.

Jesus takes this opportunity –  to instruct them – and sets the example for all of us.

“But it shall not be so” is not a reprimand, but a call to embrace a higher calling.

Jesus contrasts modes of authority. In the Roman Empire, ruler frequently practiced complete and arbitrary power, sometimes in the most ruthless fashion. They seemed to equate authority with sheer power  to work their will over others and did not hesitate to demonstrate their authority.

Jesus calls us each of us to be servants of each other, only to hold a high position of love and not authority. Equating love and mercy and compassion as a high way of holding peace and serving each other in unconditional love, taking care of each other in gentleness – which is a strength.

As imitators of our own leader, we must aspire greatness through service to others as Jesus himself serves the needs of all at the cost of death itself.

“All are in Jesus’ arms- even to this day. We, the angels of God love the Holy men and women of God, and are here to serve accordingly. As Earth angels and Disciples, we are asking you to love with your whole heart and being- taking into consideration the suffering of your Holy Savior , Jesus- who ransomed his life for all – it is through Jesus that all are forgiven – all are loved and all can have life more abundantly so that all can serve through the Holy Spirit- which is God Given and is sent to all through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus ransomed himself, blameless for all to be forgiven, taking on the needs of all once and for all. It is through this Holy and Perfect love that we receive him in every way , in our hearts and ask that all understand there is no greater love than that of Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Father , God and Jesus love everyone equally- there is no partiality with them and never will be.” The Angel Team

Love Never Hinders – from the Gospel of Mark

Jesus 2

The angels had asked me to post, awhile back, every Sunday on the Gospels. With Love and gratitude, I do. With a loving angel inspired message behind it. Gospel of Mark 9:38-43, 45, 47-48.

MK 9:38-43, 45, 47-48

At that time, John said to Jesus,
“Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name,
and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.”
Jesus replied, “Do not prevent him.
There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name
who can at the same time speak ill of me.
For whoever is not against us is for us.
Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink
because you belong to Christ,
amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his reward.

“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin,
it would be better for him if a great millstone
were put around his neck
and he were thrown into the sea.
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.
It is better for you to enter into life maimed
than with two hands to go into Gehenna,
into the unquenchable fire.
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut if off.
It is better for you to enter into life crippled
than with two feet to be thrown into Gehenna.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.
Better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye
than with two eyes to be thrown into Gehenna,
where ‘their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'”

In the first portion of today’s reading, Jesus empowers us to see that it is up to God who performs Mighty Deeds in overcoming evil. The angels say that all have been blessed with His Light and Spirit and God has chosen all to overcome evil through the Holy Spirit. Those who perform mighty deeds in Jesus name are blessed beyond measure. Those who heal in His name are also blessed , and those that perform a single act of love in Jesus name, will surely not lose their reward either – and are blessed eternally! Love will never hinder”

Jesus then makes reference to punishment for sin , which reflects Jewish thought at the time- that included notions of a final judgement with reward or punishment for righteous or unrighteous lives. In  actuality, Gehenna was the valley of ben Hinnom below Jerusalem, which served as a city dump, continually burning. It was also the place where Israelite Kings had burned their own sons as offerings to a foreign god.  (Jeremiah 7:30-32). Jesus’ main message here though, is to throw away anything that may cause the disciple (or anyone ) to sin- for there is no reward in it. Per the angels Sin’s wages are death of a spirit.”

The angels say that,  “Sin is what caused slavery. An act of might caused by God’s Spirit is to be followed by example, to lead is to be humble, noting that all good things are done by Jesus’ name and in the Holy Spirit- which are both God-given”
